Credit Union ONE Named One of America’s Best Credit Unions by Newsweek

FERNDALE, Mich., June 6, 2025 — Credit Union ONE is proud to announce its inclusion in Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group’s list of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2025. The credit union is among just 44 financial institutions in Michigan—and 500 nationwide—to receive this prestigious award.

“Being named as one of ‘America’s Best’ by Newsweek speaks volumes about the commitment of our incredible team to go the extra mile for our members and each other,” said Gary Moody, CEO of Credit Union ONE. “We are honored to receive this recognition. It validates our role as a reliable community-based and member-focused organization.”

The rankings were based on a comprehensive study of more than 9,000 regional banks and credit unions across the country, which assessed financial health, operational performance, and long-term stability. The findings were also supported by an independent survey of more than 71,000 U.S. consumers, 1.9 million social media reviews and 129 million app store ratings.

According to Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group, the top priority for today’s banking consumers is trust and safety, followed closely by customer service, online/mobile banking and checking/savings accounts. Additionally, seventy percent of respondents said they trust regional financial institutions more than large multinational banks.

“Regional banks and credit unions are the financial backbone of communities nationwide as they support small businesses, fund local projects and ensure easy access to essential banking services,” said Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief at Newsweek. Cooper noted that the rankings highlight “a community- and customer-centric approach to make a big financial impact in their neighborhoods.”
